The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given the Kwara state University, Malete, the go-ahead to offer 10 new courses beginning from the 2024/2025 session.
The institution’s Ag. Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement she issued in Malete and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday, noted that the approval was contained in a letter sent to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh which was signed by the commission’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Ag. Executive Secretary.
The statement added that the approval was based on the results of assessments from the resource verification visit carried out by panels of experts in respect of the proposed academic programmes.
The approved new courses are;
1. B.Sc. Estate Management
2. B.Sc. Geography
3. B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning
4. B.Sc. Mining Engineering
5. B.Sc. Marketing
6. B.Sc. Sociology
7. B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies
8. B.Sc. Physiology
9. B.Sc. Human Anatomy
10. B.Sc. Cyber Security
The commission in the letter dated December 10, 2024, noted that the courses are to be in full-time mode while urging the University to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved courses.
In his reaction to the approval of the new courses by the NUC, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh described this as timely and a reflection of the University’s readiness to train quality human resources that will impact society.
