NUJ Thanks First Lady Remi Tinubu For Visiting Kwara, Hails Inauguration Of ‘Signature’ Projects

Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday congratulated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for successfully hosting the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, who was in the state for a three-day working visit between Tuesday, January 28 and Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Kwara State NUJ in a statement issued at the end of its monthly congress which was signed by its Chairman, Mr Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, and Secretary, Mr Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, applauded the First Lady’s visit, describing it as a testament to the state’s growing relevance at the national level.
The union particularly hailed the inauguration of signature projects during the First Lady’s 3-day visit noting that this would significantly enhance the economy of the state and social development.
The NUJ acknowledged AbdulRazaq’s commitment to infrastructural advancement citing inauguration of key legacy projects especially the two newly constructed flyovers named after the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the late General Tunde Idiagbon.
The union emphasized that these projects, alongside the tour of strategic economic sites by the First Lady and her team including the Sugar Factory Film Studio, the Innovation Hub, and the Garment Factory would further position Kwara State as a key player in national and international development.
Furthermore, the NUJ commended the ongoing urban renewal projects in Ilorin, the state capital, acknowledging the AbdulRazaq administration’s dedication to infrastructural transformation.
It noted that the extensive road networks, modern public facilities, and improved city aesthetics are contributing to a more business-friendly environment, capable of attracting investors.
The union urged prospective investors to take advantage of Kwara’s rapidly improving infrastructure and serene environment to explore opportunities in various sectors, including technology, manufacturing, and tourism.
While acknowledging the governor’s development strides, the NUJ reminded him of the need to extend infrastructural development to the three state-owned media houses, noting that adequate and consistent funding is necessary for both broadcasting and print media to meet international standards, ensuring a more vibrant and competitive press landscape in Kwara.
The NUJ leaders reaffirmed total support for the AbdulRazaq-led administration in delivering good governance and sustainable development to the people.
The union also commended security agencies in the state for their efforts to reduce crime and ensure peace while urging them to remain vigilant and continuously refine their strategies to fortify the state against potential security threats, both internal and external.
