Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has urged students in the state to demonstrate and strengthen democratic values as they get prepared to elect new leaders for the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS).
To facilitate the process, the governor has directed his Special Adviser on Special Duties and the Special Adviser on Student Affairs to inaugurate a Convention Planning Committee that will organize a fresh election for the union.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the Special Adviser on Student Affairs, Comrade Majo Muhammad, inaugurated the 17-member committee under the supervision of the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Hon. Shafi’u Abubakar, Shattiman Zauro, during a ceremony held in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday night.
Speaking to newsmen after the event, Hon. Zauro explained that the last NUKESS election was held in 2023, the current exco has therefore overstayed its mandate.

‘Consequently, His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris, in his commitment to democracy, fairness, and justice, directed the inauguration of a convention planning committee to organize elections for new NUKESS executive officers’ he stated.
Zauro assured that the committee members, selected for their impeccable character, are expected to deliver a credible process.
‘The governor expects a free and fair election. Every contestant will be given a level playing field with no imposition or disenfranchisement’ he emphasized.
He further disclosed that the elections would be conducted within one week, with the planning committee responsible for setting the rules and guidelines.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Student Affairs, Comrade Majo Muhammad, expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver free, fair, and credible election.
‘All students who are indigenes of Kebbi State and meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to contest.
This is a golden opportunity for every Kebbi student to exercise their civic responsibility by voting or being voted for in electing new NUKESS leaders’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
