Leaders of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses And Midwives (NANNM) , Oyo state chapter, on Tuesday directed members of the union to embark on an indefinite strike from tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22 2024.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Oyo state chapter of NANNM announced this in a correspondence sent to members of the union in the state on Tuesday.
The association noted that the decision to embark on the strike action was sequel to the failure of Oyo state government to address its eight-point demand earlier made by NANNM .
The circular titled, ‘Commencement Of Indefinite Strike By Nurses And Midwives In Oyo state’ was co-signed by the state chairman and secretary , Adeyemi Samuel and Aina Emmanuel respectively.
‘Sequel to the meeting of the State Executive Council of NANNM held on 30th April , 2024 ,which resolved that State Government should implement the following prayers:
Mass recruitment of Nurses and Midwives/Nurse Educator into Hospitals Management Board, Primary Health Care Board, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Ogbomosho and Oyo state College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, Ibadan to address the gross shortage of staff to improve health care delivery in the state;
Correction of the wrong notional date on the promotion letter issued to our members;
Adoption and Implementation of 25% CONHESS adjustment Circular for Nurses and Midwives Working with Oyo state Government. NURSE B;
Financial implementation of 2018 to 2022 promotion for Nurses and Midwives working in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Ogbomosho;
Adoption and Implementation of Enhanced Hazard Allowances for Nurses and Midwives Working in LAUTECH. Teaching Hospital Ogbomosho, Oyo state College of Nursing Eleyele-Ibadan, Oyo state College of Health Technology, Eleyele-Ibadan & Primary Health Care Development Board/ LGA;
Adoption and Implementation of lateral conversion/career progression for Nurses and Midwives on GL12 and above who have possessed degree certificate in Nursing Sciences (BNSC).
Payment of withheld January/February 2011 salaries to the nurses that are yet to be paid; and Payment of uniform allowance to all Nurses and Midwives in the service of Oyo state in line with public services rule’ the NANNM leaders submitted while urging full compliance with the directive.
