Nurudeen Adeyemi Emphasizes Importance Of Homegrown Aerospace Technology, Calls Decentralization Of NCAT ‘Good Decision’
Chief Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, an aerospace engineer, has emphasized the importance of a homegrown aerospace technology which will according to him make the country get positioned to design, build, and operate its aerospace vehicles that can operate both in earth’s atmosphere and the outer space.
He also called this an important feature of a truly independent country.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, a member of the Board of TETFUND, whose keynote topic was ‘Nigeria’s Aerospace Potential: Innovation, Infrastructure and Indigenous Capacity’, said this while delivering his speech during the 48th edition of the Kwara NUJ Media Parliament at the NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin on Wednesday.
‘We have the talent; we have the capacity. What remains is commitment and time. The most important thing is to have a long-term focus and investment in homegrown aerospace technology’ he submitted.
He also noted that the aerospace sector extends far beyond airplanes and airports but rather recognized as a critical driver of innovation, infrastructure, national security, and power generation.
A vibrant aerospace sector , he added, will not only strengthen the civil aviation sector but also boost military capacity and create thousands of jobs.
Submitting that vital technology, infrastructure, and machinery are in some cases outdated, malfunctioning, or lacking, these challenges, he noted, have safety concerns, increased operational costs, inefficiencies and other challenges as their consequences.
‘The aviation industry is always about people and their equipment. We have trained people, but the challenge remains equipment. Maintenance costs are high, and facilities are old. Still, our regulatory agencies deserve commendation for keeping the airspace safe’ he said.
Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, who praised new initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, also disclosed that aviation debts are being settled while facility upgrade is underway across the country.
‘Aerospace is a job creator. It has civil and military components that are vital to our national security and development. We must not relent but remain focused until we get there’ Adeyemi said.
The TETFUND board member also described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to decentralize the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria as laudable and commendable.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had a few months ago approved the establishment of 5 new campuses for NCAT which are ; Akure, Ondo State (Southwest), Osubi, Delta State (South-South), Ebonyi State (Southeast), Ilorin, Kwara State (North Central) and Yola, Adamawa State (North-East).
He also approved the establishment of the country’s first private aeronautic university, the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM)-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
