Anyone participating in the National Youth Service Corps programme cannot take part in politics , the NYSC management, has said.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned the Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Mr Eddy Megwa, who said this in a statement issued in Abuja , noted that it was in reaction to a campaign poster on social media showing some ladies wearing the NYSC uniform who claimed to have endorsed a particular political party.
Megwa said the message contained in the campaign poster was against the policy of the scheme which forbade corps members from showing interest in partisan politics.
He, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the information contained in the said campaign poster, while admonishing corps members to abide by the policy of the scheme.
‘In addition, it is a direct assault on the integrity of the NYSC which is among the electoral umpires and has been in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission in the conduct of elections in Nigeria since 2008. Management hereby restates that the scheme remains apolitical, and neutral without any form of attachment to any political party.
The stand of the scheme runs absolutely contrary to the message fraudulently conveyed by the said campaign poster’ he submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com
