‘O –Yes’  To Begin Anew As Osun Govt Rechristens It ‘Imole Youth Corps’

Osun state Government on Thursday announced the rechristening of the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (O-YES) submitting that it will henceforth be called ‘Imole Youth Corps’.

 Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the State Government took this decision in order to reposition the Youth empowerment programme that it had inherited.

While clarifying that the state government will not be putting an end to the scheme, the statement noted however that it will begin anew, adding that this was also done   to achieve ‘effective functionality, sustainability and dignity of labour’.

‘In fulfilling one of the campaign promises of His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in ensuring meaningful and proper youth Engagement in the state, a new Scheme that will be called ‘Imole Youth Corps’ is hereby put in place to engage our teeming young people in the state.

Application forms will be available to prospective young people in all the 30 LGs in the state including Ife East Area Office free of charge beginning from Friday, 17th February, 2023’ the statement noted.

It will be recalled that the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (O-YES) was introduced during the Rauf Aregbesola administration.

Aregbesola had launched the scheme on December 20, 2010 barely one month after becoming the state governor.

He had noted that this was done as a  ‘strategic youth management’ initiative in fulfillment of his pact with  Osun state citizens as contained in his Six-Point Integral Action Plan.

Aregbesola, who is currently the Minister of Interior, served as governor of Osun state between 27 November 2010 and 27 November 2018– Team@orientactualmags.com
