Team@orientactualmags.com learned that he died during a departmental meeting on Wednesday.
The university’s spokesman, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju noted in a statement he issued in Ile-Ife that Famakinwa , ‘who was noticed to be breathing ‘abnormally’ by his colleagues during the meeting this morning, (Wednesday, March 5, 2025), was immediately rushed to the University Health and Medical Centre’.

‘Upon prompt medical examination by the team of Doctors on duty, he was referred to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), also in Ile – Ife, where he was pronounced a B.I.D patient .
Feeling sad about the unfortunate incident, the Vice -Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, who led other members of his management team on a condolence visit to the deceased professor’s wife and children, expressed ‘shock and disbelief that such a brilliant scholar could die so suddenly in the line of duty’.
Asking the family to take solace in the fact that Professor Famakinwa lived a fulfilled life of positive impact on those who were fortunate to come across him, the Vice -Chancellor counseled that as Christians, ‘we should know that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away as He pleases’. He, therefore, prayed that God should grant the immediate family, the Department of Philosophy, the Faculty of Arts and the entire University Community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
