Prominent indigenes of Ilorin, Kwara State joined other Muslims across the world to observe the eid-li-fitri prayer on Friday.

The Eid-li-Fitr prayer held at the Ilorin eid praying ground was presided over by Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulhameed.

The eid-li-fitri prayer which consists of two rakats was the first eid prayer that will be held after the demise of Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Soliu, who was until his death on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Chief Imam of Ilorin.

Residents of Ilorin attended the eid-li-fitri prayer held at the Eid praying ground, new Yidi Road, Ilorin, in large numbers and it was peaceful and hitch-free.

Dignitaries at the eid praying ground include Majority Leader of Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Oba Abdulkadir Magaji, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s Special Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Saadudeen Salahudeen, Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji Razaq Jiddah, Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Prince Abubakar Sulaiman, aka Sai Kayi, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, General Manager of  KWASIP,  Dr AbdulWasiu Tejidini, former Non-Executive Director of NNPC, Dr. Ghali Alaaya, the Zanna of Ilorin, Engineer Lanre Shagaya and Alhaji Hassan Gegele.

Talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com at the eid praying ground, Dr AbdulWasiu Tejidini urged Muslims not to abandon Ramadan values and ensure that they do not return to the sinful acts they had stayed away from during the holy month.

He also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the country and its leaders while asking Kwarans to also sustain their support for the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration.

The governor, he added, has done creditably well and there is a need for the people of the state to pray that God should protect him in order to ensure continuity of good governance in the state.

Hon Oba Abdulkadir Magaji also urged Muslim faithful not to forget the significance of Ramadan and its numerous lessons, virtues and values while asking many who had stayed away from trouble during the fasting period saying ‘I am fasting’ to ensure that they continue to do so.

He also said it is only God that chooses leaders and whoever emerges as the next occupant of the top post in the state should know that he has been chosen by God.

The state lawmaker, a barrister-at-law, also urged Kwarans to continue to support and pray for the President Bola Tinubu administration at the federal level and the Abdulrazaq administration at the state level.

Alhaji Saadudeen Salahudeen, who also talked about Ramadan virtues and lessons, noted that people  had gotten encouraged to show kindness to others, ensure constant remembrance of God, and live as one family during the fasting period.

Responding to a reporter’s question on the message of Governor Abdulraman Abdulrazaq to Kwarans as electioneering gets set to reach fever pitch , Alhaji Saadudeen Salahudeen said the governor has continued to make it very clear that ‘politics without bitterness’ should be everyone’s watchword while all politicians should also prioritize commitment to advancing and improving the lives of the people of Kwara State- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
