Offensive Social Media Posts: Journalist Remanded In Kano, Asked To Return To Court Sept 3

A Magistrate,  Ummah Kurawa, has ordered that Muktar Dahiru, a staff of Radio Nigeria, Pyramid FM, Kano, should be remanded in a correctional centre.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  Muktar was arrested by the police for offensive social media posts through which he allegedly smeared Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Mr Dahiru in several Facebook posts including the audio of an  interview with an opposition politician wherein he  accused  the governor of corruption had also asked him to allow the federal anti-corruption agencies to investigate the Novomed scandal instead of the state anti-corruption agency.

Mr Dahiru also had another post  claiming that   the governor’s political adviser, Anas Abba-Dala, speculated during a radio programme  that Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is not a Nigerian.

He also posted  an audio clip  that had someone  accusing  the  emir of pretense  .and another one wherein  an opposition politician, Yusuf Fasaha, accused former governor Rabiu  Kwankwaso of fraud.

‘When we were in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwankwaso collected N320 million from our group for the interest and nomination forms, but he later shared the seats with the people he liked and refused to conduct  primary elections. We requested a refund of our money in several meetings, but Kwankwaso refused to refund it’  Mr Fasaha had submitted.

Mr Dahiru has had charges preferred against him which bordered on  criminal conspiracy, defamation of character, and intentional insult, and he was at the Magistrate Court 24 at Gyadi Gyadi, Court Road on Friday.

Mr Abba-Dala had  filed a complaint against Mr Dahiru and told   the police that in a facebook post ,he called him an illiterate person and also accused him of impregnating a woman.

The magistrate, Ummah Kurawa, ordered   that Mr Dahiru should be remanded in a correctional facility until  September 3  for  his  bail application hearing-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
