Ogun Monarch Seen In Viral Video Assaulting Subject Quizzed By Police, Suspended For 6 Months

The Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Ogun State, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi has been suspended for six months.

A recent incident had made Oba Ogunjobi be in the spotlight and he was suspended for uncivil behavior.

Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy,  Mr Kayode Akinmade, who disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abeokuta on Monday, noted that this decision was taken after Oba Ogunjobi and the assault victim, Areola Abraham met with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Ganiyu Hamzat.

‘This became imperative as a result of the reckless utterances and public misconduct of the Kabiyesi as it was evident on social media and what is being bandied in the larger public space.

After an investigation was conducted into the matter, the Kabiyesi has been suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the stool of Olorile-Ifo pending the determination of his culpability or otherwise in respect of the allegation.

The foregoing decision was reached by the ministry in conjunction with the Egba Traditional Council in accordance with Section 52(1) of the Obas and Chiefs’ Law of Ogun State 2021’ he said.

 Recall that in a viral video Arinola, a septuagenarian, was seen kneeling down while a man, said to be Ogunjobi, cursed him and his family and accused him of conspiracy.

 He also boasted that he is influential and can send Arinola to jail.

A man accompanying Ogunjobi later slapped Arinola and ordered him to prostrate before the monarch.

The video had sparked outrage.
