Oluwo Of Iwo Expresses Worry About Spate Of Ritual Killings, Wants Govt Agency Established To Tackle It

Oluwo of Iwo , Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has expressed worry about the spate of ‘ritual killings’ in the country  while emphasizing the need for the federal and state governments to take drastic actions in order to hold this in check.

He has also suggested the establishment of a government agency to lead the fight against ritual killings and cultism in the country.

Oba Akanbi, who said the spate of ritual killings in the country has become a cause for concern, also suggested that possession of human body parts should henceforth be made punishable by death.

In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Alli Ibrahim  in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oluwo also emphasized the need to address the get-rich-quick-syndrome in the country especially among the young people.

‘The federal government   formally established both the EFCC and the ICPC to tackle corruption. A similar institution should also be established to checkmate and address corruption in the traditional system such as money rituals and cultism

The alarming rate of  innocent souls getting killed for money rituals calls for immediate curb. I read it daily on the pages of newspapers and on social media’ the monarch said.

Secret societies being promoted by some traditional rulers and elders  are according to him aiding cultism among the young people  and making them get  involved in ritual killings.

While urging the government to checkmate the activities of secret cult groups which had made the young people get exposed to rituals, the Oba Akanbi also described ritual killings as the clog in the wheel of progress of the Yoruba race, saying his throne is committed to checkmating archaic practices in Yoruba land–Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
