Omobolanle Raheem : Killer Cop To Get Executed By Hanging

Drambi Vandi , an Assistant Superintendent of Police,  who killed Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem,  a  barrister-at-law, in Lagos state , is now on death row.

Justice Ibironke Harrison of the Lagos High Court , Tafawa Balewa Square , Lagos Island, on Monday found  Drambi guilty in the murder of Mrs. Omobolanle.

Mrs. Raheem, who was pregnant, was shot dead at the Ajah roundabout, on Christmas Day in 2022 .

Harrison submitted that the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt while adding  that the convict shot the deceased woman at close range.

Recall that the court had in April this year dismissed a ‘no case submission’ filed Vandi and he was asked to open his defence because a ‘prima facie’ had been made against him.

In his application with regard to the no-case submission, Vandi had asked the court to dismiss the suit submitting that he had no case to answer.

The defence counsel, Adetokunbo Odutola had also told the court that no one among the eyewitnesses saw the defendant shoot  the deceased woman adding  that the ballistic evidence had also expressly stated that the bullet could not be linked with any of the firearms recovered from the police officers at the scene.

Odutola also argued that the pathologist who testified had noted that the bullet penetrated from the left through the armpit while the prosecution stated that the deceased woman was shot in the chest.

However, the prosecution team led by the Attorney General  and Commissioner for Justice,  Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), had countered the arguments and urged the defendant to defend himself insisting that the prosecution had successfully made its case against him- Team@orientactualmags.com
