
Professor Nike Yetunde Sidiqat Ijaiya, a lecturer at the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, will today, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, deliver the ‘Convocation Lecture’ at the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, Irepodun local Government, Kwara State as part of the activities marking the institution’s 13th convocation ceremony.
The Convocation Lecture’ is titled ‘A Nation in Transition: The Role of Education in Sustainability’.
Provost of the College of Education, Professor` Aremu Mukaila Ayanda disclosed this during the press conference he presided over in Oro, on Tuesday, which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com.

‘The 13th Convocation Ceremony commences with the Provost’s Press Briefing and Inter- School Debate, Arts Exhibition, and Convocation Drama today, Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, there will be a Novelty Match between Male staff and male students.
We are also honoured to have Professor Nike Yetunde, Sidiqat Ijaiya, an erudite scholar, a professor of repute, a guru in educational management from the Faculty of Education, AlHikmah University as our convocation lecturer she will deliver a Convocation lecture titled ‘A Nation in Transition: The Role of Education in Sustainability’.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, we will hold the 13th convocation ceremony Endowment/ Fund Raising’ he said.

A total of 1,809 students who belong to the 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic sessions, would be graduating from the college, 1,792 among them would be awarded National Certificate of Education (NCE) while 17 will earn Professional Diploma of Education (PDE).
Professor` Aremu Mukaila Ayanda also said awards would be presented to outstanding students, community leaders, government officials, staff of the college, and alumni who have made significant contributions to the college and society.
While lamenting low student enrollment, which he blamed on the government policy that the same O Level results as requirements for NCE prpogramme, OND and Degree courses, the college, he noted, ‘is introducing new programmes to address emerging needs in various fields’ adding that ‘entrepreneur education is a course offered by our students to encourage self-reliance and economic independence after graduation’.
He also said the college is doing the needful to make the institution a haven for passionate researchers and scholars.
‘As part of the measures taken to promote research efforts, the College established KWED Oro Centre for Research and Innovations in July 2024. This is to enhance research activities and visibility of the College. For the first time in the history of the college, a total of 7 academic staff from different Departments and Colleges won Institutional Research- Based grant totaling N13,812,770.00 in July 2024.
Furthermore, in August 2024 another 8 academic staff also won Institutional Research Grants totaling N21,906,595.00’ he said.
Prof` Aremu Mukaila Ayanda also disclosed future plans for the institution while thanking the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration for providing necessary supports.
‘In the history of the college, the current administration in the state has extended the hands of friendship and support than previous administrations. The college has been receiving regularly monthly subvention from the government without default since His Excellency came on board five and a half years ago’ he said.
‘As we celebrate this milestone, we are also looking to the future. Our college is committed to:
1. Expanding Academic Programmes:
We are introducing new programmes to address emerging needs in various fields, presently, entrepreneur education is a course taken by our students to encourage self-reliance and economic independence after graduation. However, we are still in consultation with Kwara State University, Malete to partner with them in offering 15 diploma courses. We are optimistic that these courses shall be beneficial to our students and the community.
2. Enhancing Research and Innovation: We are strengthening our research capacity and fostering innovations through collaborations with industry and other stakeholders.
3.
