Osogbo Alternative High School Built On Disputed Land…Osun Govt Officials Using Subterfuge-Alaagba Family

Osogbo Alternative High School Built On Disputed Land…Osun Govt Officials Using Subterfuge-Alaagba Family

The Alternative High School, Osogbo which was inaugurated a few weeks ago, was built on a disputed land and the parcels of land in question are part of the large expanse of land that the Alaagba family, Osogbo have claimed ownership.

Recall that the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi  Tinubu had on April, 23,2025, inaugurated the Alternative High School For Girls, Osogbo which occupies five acres of the disputed land.

The Alaagba family which has claimed that the land was owned by their progenitors had filed an application for an order of mandamus at the Osun State High Court, Osogbo seeking to compel the state government to show evidential ownership of the land.

The Alagbaa of Osogbo land, Chief Hammed had through the family’s lawyer, Barrister Lekan Alabi,   sought for the court order mandating the State Government to show cause why it has failed to approve the survey plans the family submitted to relevant ministries and agencies.

‘We cannot but have the feelings that the decision of the state government to present parcels of land from the disputed large expanse of land to a high profile figure of the First Lady’s status means that the government is trying to establish a false narrative about the ownership of the land or curry favour with her in order to gain protection for the acquisition of the land  ?

Other questions being asked by observers stem from whether the government is probably creating a situation in which the First Lady would feel obligated to support its cause on the trojan horse or deliberately yield out a land under dispute towards giving cold comfort  to her scheme or frustrating her scheme entirely’ a member of the family told  Team@orientactualmags.com  on Thursday.

It was also learned that the police prevented some influential people who had sought to use the Isese public holiday last Wednesday as an opportunity to take over part of the land in dispute.

The land is situated at the hill top area and the Alagbaa had released it originally to the British Colonial Government before Nigeria gained independence.

It was popularly called ‘Oke D.O. ( The hill top of the Divisional Officer)

Following the creation of Osun State in 1991, the new government allocated it to civil servants while the Nigeria Security and Civil  Defence Corps later occupied the area until recently when it relocated to its new site.

The Alagbaa family had in a 31- paragraph affidavit attached to its application for mandamus stated that the Commissioner for Lands had invited its members to a meeting for amicable resolution of the land matter in 2024.

‘We were requested to withdraw our pending actions and petitions which involves a binding over proceedings to stop government from forcibly  entering our land but they have since our withdrawal been evasive and dodging further meeting with us’ the family said.

Some powerful individuals in the state have allegedly begun to sell the parcels of land to people while they also allegedly employed the crude service of thugs and Amotekun officials to drive the Alaagba family away from their property.

They have also frustrated steps taken to secure survey plan for the plots of land.

In disregard to court process, the powerful people  in question have been taking decisions on the land and also converting it to personal use.

The family also alleged that seven politicians and six top civil servants in the Ministry of Lands are involved.

The Alagbaa of Osogbo land said the family found it puzzling and surprising that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officers who have benefited from their hospitality have become hostile and now chasing them away from their land whilst they are having serious difficulties in perfecting their building paper and approval with government agencies.

When our reporter called the Police Divisional Office, Oke Bale where two people  who were arrested in connection with the land dispute were taken to on Wednesday, a cop who picked up the call, IPO Soji, confirmed that two government officials are  being questioned in respect of the matter while adding that it is a civil case and that the police have advised parties involved to take the matter to court for adjudication –Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
