Osun 2022: Gov Adeleke , PDP Chairman Issue Statements To Mark 1st Anniversary Of Election Victory
Matters that have to do with the gubernatorial election held in Osun state on July 16, 2022, came to the fore once again, on Sunday, July 16, 2023, with Governor Ademola Adeleke issuing a statement to celebrate the first anniversary of his election victory.
Governor Ademola Adeleke noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his spokesman, Mr. Olawale Rasheed that he felt nostalgic recalling what happened during the gubernatorial election held on July 16, 2022 .
The governor added that he had done this with deep praises to God and appreciation to the people while promising to stay committed to his administration’s 5 –point agenda.
He saluted the steadfastness of Osun voters, who according to him defied all pressure to reject the then incumbent governor and endorse his candidacy, declaring his eternal gratitude to God and stating his undiluted resolve to serve nothing but the best interest of the citizenry.
Recalling the unpleasant experience himself and his family had from 2017 to July 16, 2022, the governor lamented the dehumanizing treatment meted out to him during the 2018 gubernatorial struggles, his self- imposed exile to conclude his education and his triumphal return to the country before the 2022 guber election, calling the experience in question ‘divinely – driven but humanly -testing and tasking’.
‘Today ,12 months ago, you voted massively for me to become your governor. Your votes a year ago reclaimed the stolen mandate of 2018. My dear people of Osun state, I am eternally grateful.
You rallied round me as the light (Imole) of liberation. When the going was tough, the people of Osun were there for me. Together, we salvaged our state. My people, I will never forget your strong backing which gave us a resounding victory in 2022, a year ago today.
I want to report back that in the last one year, I have kept faith with my covenant with Osun people. I have pursued no private agenda except of public interest. I have devoted myself to only that which satisfies the aspirations and wishes of the people. In those intervening days, my preoccupation is peoples’ welfare and security.
I was able to deliver on several fronts, from infrastructure to digital economy. We succeeded in raising the bar in the delivery of good governance. Delivery of dividends of democracy is on a sustainable basis.
My good people of Osun state, despite the tight fiscal situation, I have achieved much with less resources. We have been very prudent and transparent. We blocked revenue leakages and we stopped wasteful expenditure. Pro-people projects and programmes were our key priorities.
As we mark this one year of that landmark election, your government and governor remain focused on the implementation of the five- point agenda. We pledge to remain pro-masses and pro-people, fulfilling your needs shall remain our principal goal.
We shall not waver in the delivery of quality services to women and young people, young and old, the poor and the rich. We shall remain a government of the people, by the people and for the people’ the governor submitted.
In separate statement, Osun state PDP Chairman, Chief Sunday Bisi asserted that since becoming the chief executive of the state, Governor Adeleke has ‘transformed the texture of governance’ and he has also shown the citizens ‘hope of a promising future’.
‘Today marks one year, that the good people of Osun state, made that remarkable decision that ended the reign of the parasites in our dear state.
You all rose from your homes, sacrificed your time and comfort and cast your votes for His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke ,whom you believed had a divine call to rescue the state from the claws of the tigers in human skin.
You had done it four years earlier in 2018 but the power-that-be supervised a broad day robbery of your votes and smuggled Adegboyega Oyetola to the Government House. And what did he do with that stolen mandate? He shortchanged you on the pretext of service and mien of humility that he lacks.
Notwithstanding, you endured and patiently waited till July 16, 2023, when you paid him in his own coin with your mass votes for your trusted Governor Adeleke, who has now transformed the texture of governance and shown you hope of a promising future.
From November 27, 2022 when His Excellency was inaugurated till this morning, the administration has uncovered lots of things which confirmed that those people were in government for four years only for the purpose of pursuing their personal goals at the expense of your welfare and future of your children. But His Excellency has gracefully and successfully blocked most of the leakages so far discovered and promised not to return the state to that era of impunity.
There is nothing to do today other than giving thanks to God and to you, the good people of Osun state, for your belief in Governor Ademola Adeleke and your continued faith in his model of administration. We are assuring you that you would not have any cause to regret your decision to choose him as your leader.
We are conscious of the fact that the opposition party is bereaved for the loss which you inflicted on them last year; we are, thus, not unmindful of their different plots to fight back through the instrumentality of blackmail, false alarms, fake news and other means of undermining this administration. But we are assuring you that the government is up to the task to repel their acts and expose them further to the world. We plead that you remain steadfast and wait for more dividends to be enjoyed in this truly democratic, responsive and responsible administration.
