Osun APC Reacts To Letter From SSG To Fagbemi, Calls 2025 LG Chairmen, Councilors ‘Impostors’

Osun APC Reacts To Letter From SSG To Fagbemi, Calls 2025 LG Chairmen, Councilors ‘Impostors’
  • Osun State APC on Wednesday reacted to a letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Lateef Fagbemi; which had the Accountant General of the Federation, Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi and the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Yemi Cardoso cc’d and in which the state government introduced chairmen and councilors in the 30 local governments in the state ,who are products of the local government elections held on February 22, 2025.
  •
  •
  • The party in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its spokesman, Chief Kola Olabisi called the local government officials in question’ illegally selected chairmen and councilors’.
  •
  • ‘We want to put it on record and for the attention of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Accountant General of the Federation and the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria that the PDP chieftains who were introduced by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Teslim Igbalaye, are impersonators as there was no election where such characters were elected.
  •
  • As a matter of fact, there were no vacancies for the conduct of any election given that the Court of Appeal had in its judgment of February 10, 2025, reinstated local government executives who were elected in October 2022 but were sacked by Governor Ademola  Adeleke.
  •
  • Following the furore generated by the landmark judgment, the PDP Caucus in the National Assembly had appealed to the Attorney General of the Federation to give interpretation to the Appeal Court verdict, a request which the Chief Law Officer honoured when he in a letter addressed to the Osun State governor, Adeleke, advised him not to conduct a fresh election in the state as Chairmen and Councilors elected in 2022 were yet to exhaust their tenure.
  •
  •
  • We found it bizarre that Governor Adeleke who flagrantly turned down the sound professional advice of the Attorney General of the Federation not to hold the election as there were no vacancies for such could now genuflect to the same Attorney General,  introducing some political deviants as the duly elected local government executives.
  •
  • It is also on record that the InspectorGeneral of Police lent his voice and emphasized the need for Governor Adeleke to put the elections on hold as the security report in the state wasn’t favourable for such. The counsel of the IGP was equally disregarded’ the  statement said.
  •
  • Osun State APC has also urged the Attorney General , the Accountant General of the Federation and the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria to ignore the letter introducing the 2025 local government chairmen and councilors referring to them as ‘a product of a needless and an illegitimate election’.
  •
  • ‘The legally recognized council chairmen and councilors in Osun State today are the reinstated APC council chairmen and councilors who are working assiduously to enthrone good governance at the local government level’ the party asserted- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
