Osun State APC on Wednesday submitted that there was a need for the state legislature to ask Governor Ademola Adeleke to explain reasons why he had decided to allegedly withhold the salary of all the public officials that served under Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola for the month of November.
‘Information revealed that Adeleke has refused to pay the November salary of all the legally-appointed political appointees of Oyetola despite the fact that the latter had appropriated funds for the same purpose before leaving office.
The affected former public officers are ; the governor, deputy governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Assistant Chief of Staff, commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, special assistants, personal assistants, drivers and others.
It was observed that Governor Adeleke deliberately and grudgingly refused to pay the November salary of all the public officers who validly served under Oyetola till the end of his tenure last month’ Acting state APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal said in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday.
Lawal opined that there can be no justifiable reasons why Governor Adeleke would stop public officials , who were validly employed by his predecessor, from getting paid..
The statement urged the governor to shun alleged politics of hatred, vindictiveness, oppression and victimization while questioning the basis for the refusal to pay the former public officials their salary when ‘there are records that they were validly employed and worked diligently till the 27th of November, 2022 when there was a change of government’.
‘I don’t understand how we came to this level. What will be the reasons why Governor Adeleke is punishing a cross section of Osun State workers whose salaries he is sitting on.
Thank God that we are operating in a democratic society where there are expected statutory checks and balances by any of the arms of government.
It is on this basis that it has become expedient that the Osun State House of Assembly should intervene and ask questions why Governor Adeleke is working towards a bleak Christmas for some people in the state through nonpayment of salary’ the statement added- Team@orientactualmags.com
