Osun Man Accused Of Kidnapping Child In Ilorin Saved From ‘Jungle Justice’ By Police
Police disclosed on Saturday that a man from Osun State, who was accused of kidnapping a child in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has been taken into custody while an investigation has been launched into the allegations.
Spokesperson for Kwara State police command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, who disclosed this in a statement she issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday, noted that prompt intervention by cops saved the suspect from becoming a victim of ‘jungle justice’.
‘The Kwara State Police Command is aware of a viral video in which a young man was accused and apprehended for child kidnapping in Ilorin. The Command wishes to inform members of the public that on Friday, 16th May, 2025, at about 1900hrs, cops attached to the Kwara State Police Command apprehended an adult male (name unknown) who was accused of attempting to kidnap a child in Ilorin.
The suspect, who claimed that he is from Osun State, was apprehended by a joint patrol team of cops and community vigilante members during a routine operation. He was rescued from a violent mob who had accused him of attempting to kidnap a child and were on the verge carrying out jungle justice.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations and identify other individuals who may be connected to the case. The Complainant(s) involved are yet to report at the headquarters of the command to provide more information that will assist police detectives in unraveling this incident. Further updates will be provided as investigations unfold.
The Kwara Police Command uses this medium to restate its stance against mob action and jungle justice. Such acts are not only unlawful but can also result in the miscarriage of justice. Members of the public are strongly advised to report all suspicious activities to the nearest police station rather than resorting to self-help or violence.
