Osun PDP Senators Supporting Oyetola During Confirmation Hearing ‘Good’ But ‘Inconsequential’–APC
Osun state APC has cautioned the ruling party in the state, the PDP, the state governor and those the party referred to as ‘his co-travelers’ to desist from making remarks and assertions that seem to show that the political fortunes of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola had depended on ‘their whims and caprices’.
The state APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, submitted that Oyetola enjoying the support of the three PDP senators during the senate hearing was good but however not spectacular adding that their opposition to the nomination of Oyetola would not have prevented the former governor from sailing through.
The party also said their ‘intention’ could not have been ‘genuine’.
‘There wasn’t anything spectacular about the support given to Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola by the three PDP senators during his confirmation hearing as there is no rule in the Senate that makes such a support mandatory before being confirmed.
The three Osun PDP senators and Governor Adeleke could not have stopped Oyetola from becoming a minister.
The occasion was only utilized as an opportunity for the Osun state PDP senators to join the winning team and as an opportunity for them not to wash their dirty linen in the public.
The support given to the immediate past Governor Oyetola would not erase from the subconscious of the right-thinking members of the Osun state society how the three PDP senators and all other party’s candidates stepped on the blood of the innocent members and supporters of the APC in the state to earn the fraudulent electoral victory that they are now parading.
Adeleke and the PDP senators’ support for Oyetola during the senate hearing was a ploy to assuage our members and supporters in Osun state for the extra-judicial killings of about 30 of APC members by the PDP thugs during recent elections in the state.
Apart from the fact that Governor Adeleke would need the services of Oyetola as a minister, it should resonate in the minds of the Osun PDP town criers and their principal that while a minister represents the President in all the states in the country, a governor is only in charge of his state.
What we are saying in essence is that there was no big deal or anything special or spectacular about the support that former governor Oyetola enjoyed from the three Osun state PDP Senators during his confirmation hearing’ Lawal submitted.
‘It would be recalled that Oyetola, the immediate past governor of Osun state, was at the National Assembly complex for senate hearing last Friday and Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Deputy Senate Minority Leader, and Senator Francis Fadahunsi, spoke glowingly about Oyetola, the Osun state cabinet nominee.
Oyewumi in his eulogy of Oyetola disclosed that Governor Adeleke had directed all the three PDP senators representing the state in the Senate to support his nomination .
