Osun State will grab the global spotlight next week as those who have interest in traditions, art, history, festivals, and culture especially the Yoruba people at home and in the Diaspora will gather in the State of the Living Spring for the inaugural edition of ‘Adire Osun Agbaye Fiesta’.
The event which is scheduled to hold in Osogbo, the state capital, between September 10 and September 14, 2025, has as its theme ‘Adire Osun: A Symbol Of Yoruba Heritage and Identity’.
The event is designed to promote the timeless artistry, heritage and economic significance of Adire (tye and dye).
Adire involves using techniques like tying, stitching, or waxing to create patterns on fabric before dyeing it with indigo or other natural dyes.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has not only listed the advantages of the important event but also assured that arrangements have been made to maximally utilize the fiesta to reinforce Adire potential for cultural and economic development of the state.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governor, who said this while receiving members of the planning committee led by Prince Ayodeji Olamilekan in Osogbo, also submitted that his administration would tap to the fullest the potential of Adire as a thriving cultural industry and a symbol of identity.
Earlier, Prince Ayodeji Olamilekan, who is popularly called ‘Sango of Africa’, had briefed the governor on the preparation for the fiesta, noting that the 4-day event would attract Adire makers and sellers from all local governments in the state and the other five states in the southwest.
The 4-day event will also feature a symposium on the future of Adire Osun, and a fashion show to appreciate some living and dead icons who have made a difference in arts and culture.
Sango of Africa, who is Governor Adeleke’s Special Adviser on Cultural Affairs, also noted that the Adire Osun Agbaye Fiesta has the potential for personal growth and fulfillment.
