
Wives of police officers in Kwara state, who are members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), were among beneficiaries as Kwara state government continued the distribution of cash grants to female traders in the state on Wednesday.
The disbursement being coordinated by the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes (KWASSIP) under its Owo Isowo Scheme like other empowerment programmes of the state government, was designed to support businesses and stimulate the economy, the governor’s media office noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday.
‘The sum of N600 million was earmarked for disbursement to 30,000 women petty traders in replica of the World Bank programme, Nigeria for Women Project.
Thousands of market women and other petty traders across local governments in the state have also benefitted from the scheme’ the statement added.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who attended the event, made presentation to some of the beneficiaries including members of POWA .
