PDP Left Me In The Lurch During My Difficult Moment-Gov Fubara

PDP Left Me In The Lurch During My Difficult Moment-Gov Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Tuesday gave reasons for his decision to choose APC as his new party while asserting that his decision is supported by reasonable and valid reasons.

The governor accused his former party, the PDP, of leaving him in the lurch while facing a difficult situation.

Recall that sequel to the rift between the governor and the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike which had heightened political tension in the state, President Bola Tinubu had on March 18, 2025, declared all elected political office holders at the state level in Rivers State suspended for six months.

By extension, all members of the State Executive Council were also sent packing.

This was sequel to the declaration of state of emergency in the state.

Retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas was also appointed as Sole Administrator of the state and Governor Fubara had only returned to office after the expiration of the 6-month emergency rule.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Fubara ,who commented on the pre-emergency rule and the post-emergency rule period during the ‘stakeholder meeting’ held at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday, had also announced his decision to leave PDP for APC.

‘I went to see Mr President not just for a personal visit, but for a consultation on state matters. The most important outcome of that meeting is that we now have full support to leave where we were because we didn’t get the protection we needed.

If President Tinubu had not intervened, there wouldn’t be a Siminalayi Fubara today. We have the people and supporters with us. Our decision is to move to the APC and fully support the President’s second-term bid’ he said.

The governor had also noted that he left PDP for APC in the interest of Rivers State people while adding that he has gotten the go-ahead from President Bola Tinubu.

‘We can’t support President (Tinubu) if we don’t fully identify with him, not just backyard support. Our decision this evening is that we are moving to the APC’ he said.

Recall that for the second time in two years, Speaker Martin Amaewhule and fifteen other members of the state House of Assembly, had announced their decision to leave PDP for APC last week.

Recall also that the Speaker and 27 others had on December 11, 2023, announced decision to leave PDP for APC and it was a development that had signaled and made it public that a frosty relationship was existing between the legislature and the executive.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule is the leader of the loyalists of Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike among the political office holders in the state-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
