PDP Remains Most Popular Party In Ijesha North…Why I Distributed Cocoa Seedlings To Farmers-Wale Bolorunduro
Former Commissioner for Finance, Osun State, Dr Wale Bolorunduro asserted at the weekend that PDP remains the most popular party in Ijesha North (Oriade/Obokun) federal constituency, Osun State while also noting that the distribution of cocoa seedlings to farmers in the federal constituency in question is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods of the people.

Talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com during the presentation ceremony, Dr Wale Bolorunduro, who noted that a total of 250 people are beneficiaries of the Phase 1 of the programme, also submitted that everyone in the party is committed to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid.

‘PDP is the first and only party I have joined willingly, by myself and for my people. So, it is my first party of choice. The choice I have had to make by myself and for my people in Oriade and Obokun local governments. This Federal Constituency is a PDP haven. When I agreed to become Aregbesola’s Commissioner for Finance in 2011, he told me in the presence of Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed (BAT) that ‘you come from constituency that has moved away from us, so, you will have to embrace your people and bring them back, although you are a professional’.
‘It is Chief Bola Ige’s place’ BAT quipped with a surprise facial expression.
Aregbesola however replied that ‘they have moved after the death of Chief Bola Ige’.
Why we are strongly for PDP is a story for another day. I was consequently tasked with doing the needful to make our people support APC. We have never polled less than 60,000 votes in any election in the last 10 years, from the two local governments, that is remarkable. But in terms of registered voters, we are either number 3 or 4 among the 9 federal constituencies in Osun State.
I was the Director General/Chairman of the Campaign Committee in 2014 and 2015, and I worked very hard with others to win for APC, a departure from 2003 and the 2007. Although, Aregbesola won in 2007 in many local governments, he only won in 3 wards out of the 12 wards in Oriade, my local government.
A highly revered monarch in our constituency told me in 2012 while trying to turn our people away from the PDP that ‘we love you but we don’t do that party here o, Dewale, but we will follow you, hmn, when, you realize, we will tell you, we have said so’.
When APC started behaving funnily, in deviant to the wishes of the people, I among others did not work for them in 2018, and they lost Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency with over 5,000 votes. In 2019, someone in APC said if his constituency does not want the senate seat, should it be the turn of Obokun/Oriade constituency?’ alas, we pulled ourselves together and worked for Senator Fadahunsi of our constituency and he won for the first time in 2019. Although, he had lost previously, in 2015 and lost in Oriade local government, which is in his senatorial district. I know all the heavenly and all the korokondus in this federal constituency and I can tell you that we are all back in PDP since 2019.
So, Obokun and Oriade local governments are for PDP, it is the rock haven of PDP, we are ruggedly for PDP, people say jocularly that we are mountainous people. That’s is why you have a Senator and a Reps member, who have just decamped to APC and our people refused to follow them as expected. We will work for Governor Ademola Adeleke, Imole, for second term, we know what to do, but we are guarding our strategies for now. If you are a grassroots person, you know you can’t be sleeping, election is one year away today, 8th August, 2025, and we are distributing Imole Cocoa Seedlings under ‘Imole Agricultural Empowerment Programme’.
This is symbolic and that, there will not be some sort of federal supports to the opposition party APC, covertly or otherwise, I will say tell it to the marine. Governor Ademola has said we will win second term for him as PDP candidate and that we will support President Tinubu for his second term because of the ancestral heritage that we share. For me, this is fair and equitable.
In terms of my political philosophy and ideology, this is where I belong. I like my freedom to contribute and at the same time being held responsible for my actions. I have been out of public office for the past ten (10) years, I have not been to EFCC or under any investigation; so, I give God all the Glory. Since all politics is local, I am comfortable with what Osun PDP is offering and doing, under Governor Ademola Adeleke’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
