Pharmacy Services Restored In 7 Public Hospitals In Kwara After 20 Years

Pharmacy services have been restored in over seven public health facilities in Kwara State following the steps taken by the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration.

The last time the hospitals in question provided such services was 20 years ago, Mr Adamu Usman, who is the Press Secretary of the Kwara State Hospital Management Board, submitted in a statement he issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday.

‘Kwara State Hospital Management Board had sought re-accreditation of the pharmacy departments at state hospitals that were lost more than 20 years ago following the support and the go-ahead gotten from His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq last year.

No fewer than 7 state hospital pharmacy departments just secured accreditation from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) to operate as internship training centers for graduate pharmacists.

The accredited facilities include:

– General Hospital Patigi

– General Hospital Offa

– Kwara State university Teaching Hospital, Ilorin.

– Civil Service Hospital

– Aisha Buhari Mother & Child hospital

– Sobi Specialist Hospital

– Children’s Specialist Hospital

– Kwara State Essential Drugs Project’  Adamu said.

‘It was a long and tedious process that involved the PCN sending an accreditation team to Kwara State to inspect the proposed facilities. We are very happy that we succeeded, and Kwara State can resume the training of intern pharmacists from all schools of pharmacy in Nigeria that it lost 2 decades ago’ the statement quoted Dr.Abdulraheem Malik, the Executive Secretary of the board, as saying.

He further  noted that, due diligence was observed throughout the accreditation process, as all facilities were required to meet specific preconditions before receiving approval.

‘This marks a significant boost for the health sector under this current administration that will help in further closing our manpower gaps’ he added while assuring the Board’s commitment to supervising and monitoring all the accredited facilities to ensure sustained improvements in healthcare service delivery in the state.

He added that, processing has also commenced to secure accreditations to begin the training of intern nurses and medical laboratory scientists- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
