Police Finally Confirm Release Of Abducted Ilorin Tipper Drivers

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in Kwara state, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, a Superintendent of Police, has confirmed the release of the four tipper drivers that were abducted in the suburb of Ilorin a few days ago.

‘Yes, they have been released by their abductors but I cannot give you further details now except I get to the office because I am on transit coming from Patigi local government area and there is poor mobile reception.

But we are yet to make additional arrests from the two we already made, and they are still undergoing custodial interrogation’ he said.

A family member of one of the abducted tipper drivers  , who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed their release but added however that they were made to part with money.

‘The kidnapping incident was truly recorded, four Tipper drivers were kidnapped. Police in collaboration with other security agencies, Vigilante men and hunters have launched a hunt   for the kidnappers but we are yet to see any of the drivers.

Our search still continues in the bush and I know that we will succeed. We are going to rescue them.

My appeal to members of the public is that they should continue to give us information which will make us to succeed in our assignment’ Okasanmi had earlier submitted on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the four  tipper drivers were ambushed and taken away  by some men who wore Military Uniform at a site where they  had  gone to collect Sand and have it transported  to the city.

The four victims were  said to be members of the Oyun garage branch of the Association of Quarry and Sand dealers, Ilorin.

The kidnappers, who had  later contacted their families , had also demanded  N5million ransom from  each of the affected families.

Their wives had however reportedly resorted to alms begging to raise the N20million ransom.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned they were seen on old Jebba-Ilorin Road   precisely the Kwara state Polytechnic axis on Wednesday.

One of the women identified as Aishat , who claimed to be one of the victims’ wife, urged philanthropists and public -spirited individuals  to come to their aid so that the abductees  can regain their freedom.

Sources told our reporter that the tipper drivers  had been let off the hook a few days ago but  that no one could however make any assertion because there was no official confirmation from the police while some said they were just released today as claimed by the police-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
