Police Hint At Seun Kuti Facing Fresh Criminal Charges

The Police have  hinted at  preferring fresh criminal charges against  Mr. Seun Kuti after  searching his residence in Lagos.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Benjamin Hundeyin, who is the spokesman for  the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos state,  said this while reacting to comments made by  some  social media users.

 ‘The harassment of Seun Kuti’s family by ransacking their home & seizing his wife’s phone is wrong.

 You’re making people who were sympathetic to the police because Seun Kuti’s behaviour was despicable to remember why they hated the police before. This is bad PR for the police’  Seun Osewa had tweeted.

Benjamin in his response however hinted at fresh criminal charges.

‘In the course of our investigation, we stumbled on certain suspicious things that needed to be proven/disproved beyond reasonable doubt.

We, therefore, applied for and duly got a search warrant from the court which we have executed. Investigation continues.

No law limits the police to investigating only the initial crime. World over, Police Departments stumble on other crimes while investigating an initial crime. We are duty bound to investigate them in line with our mandate of detecting and investigating crimes’ he submitted.

Seun Kuti ,who  had in a viral video hit and slapped a police officer many times on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, and had  the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba directing  the Lagos state police command to ensure that  he gets arrested without delay, had turned himself in to the police on Monday.

He had since appeared before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Magistrates’ court  Yaba, Lagos state and  charged with assault on a police officer, an offense contrary to Section 356 of the Criminal Code Act-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
