Police Officer Accused Of Killing Bola Raheem In Lagos Suspended

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba, has recommended the immediate suspension of Drambi Vandi,  an Assistant Superintendent of Police, who   reportedly  shot  Omobolanle Raheem dead in Lagos state, on Christmas Day.

 Force PRO, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi , a Chief Superintendent of Police, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday noted that this was done whilst awaiting a  detailed report on the incident.

Before getting into trouble,  Vandi was attached to the Ajah Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command.

 The IGP noted that the recommendation for the suspension of the officer was in line with the internal disciplinary process of the Force.

Alkali further noted that the suspension will also create an enabling environment for necessary legal procedures to uphold justice in the case without interference.

‘The suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer’ the statement said.  

The IGP also reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to the Rule of Law while assuring the public of his commitment to ensuring that ‘justice is not just done but seen to have been manifestly done in the matter’.

 He therefore urged members of the public to be calm as ‘all hands are on deck to ensure that justice prevails while measures have been put in place to prevent future occurrence’- Team@orientactualmags.com
