Port Harcourt Presidential Rally Couldn’t Hold Coz No One Can Mobilize PDP Members, Supporters –Gov Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has reacted to the cancellation of the  PDP presidential rally scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt today, Tuesday, 14 February 2023 while  asserting that the rally was not suspended due to security fears as claimed but rather because no one could mobilize party members and supporters to attend the rally.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Wike , who said this  during the rally held by   the state PDP  at Nyemoni Secondary School , Abonnema , Akuku-Toru Local Government on Monday, added that no one was planning to do anything that would lead to bloodshed at the venue of the rally as claimed.

It will be recalled that the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council , Rivers state had earlier on Monday   announced that its presidential rally would no longer hold as planned.

Lee Meaba, who spoke on behalf the campaign council in Port Harcourt, had cited security reasons.

Meaba said  the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had informed members of the council  that he does not want shedding of blood recorded in the state and will therefore prefer that the rally is suspended.

Governor Wike has however accused Lee Meaba and others of promoting half-truths.

‘I gave them the stadium, they know they’ve no capacity to fill the stadium, they’re looking for excuses.

They went and forced themselves to use government land at Trans Amadi. I said ‘no, that wasn’t where I gave you. Where I gave you was Adokiye Amiesimaka, go and fill that place’.

They now said ‘no, we won’t go there again. We don’t want people to die’. Who is killing who? Is anybody killing anybody? I said ‘don’t pay money, I’ll buy the diesel for you. I’ll do everything for you. Mobilize, go, and fill that stadium’. They ran away’ he said.

Governor Wike is the leader of the PDP governors now popularly called G-5  governors, who had for months now expressed their dissatisfaction with former Senator Iyorchia Ayu’s  continued stay in office and had later announced the formation of the ‘Integrity Group’.

Ayu is the National Chairman of the PDP.

Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu)  had in November last year rose from a closed-door meeting to announce their decision not to campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar- Team@orientactualmags.com
