President Tinubu Announces Death Of Former President Buhari…He’ll Be Remembered For His Humility, Modest Lifestyle-NGF
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday announced the passing of his immediate predecessor, former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga noted in a statement he issued in Abuja that former president Muhammadu Buhari died in London at about 4.30 pm on Sunday following a prolonged illness.
Mr Onanuga noted that President Tinubu has called Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former president’s wife and offered his deep condolences while Vice President Kashim Shettima has been asked to leave for the United Kingdom in order to accompany the former president’s body back to the country.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has also mourned the death of the former president noting that he would be remembered for his humility, strategic patience, and modest lifestyle.
The NGF in a statement issued by its chairman, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq added that ‘Muhammadu Buhari was not just a former President or military leader; but a national political leader with profound moral courage, character, and amazing sense of duty’.

This death is a significant depletion in the rank of Africa’s all-time great men. Muhammadu Buhari was not just a former President or military leader; he was a national political leader with profound moral courage, character, and amazing sense of duty. He would be remembered for his humility, strategic patience, and modest lifestyle.
We send our deepest condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the painful loss of his dear friend, compatriot, immediate predecessor, and fellow party man.
