President Tinubu Makes 2 Fresh Cabinet Nominations…Jemila Bio’s ‘Many Firsts’

President Bola Tinubu  made two fresh nominations during the weekend.

He has nominated Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Mr. Ayodele Olawande ,who would serve as Minister of Youth and Minister of State for Youth respectively.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the president’s Special Adviser  on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale,  who disclosed this on Sunday, noted that the senate would be holding confirmation hearings for the cabinet nominees.

‘ President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim to serve as  Minister of Youth, pending her confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim is a young medical doctor and most recently served as the President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF). She has also served as Kwara state governor’s  Senior Special Assistant  on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mr. Ayodele Olawande is a community development expert and  a youth leader in the governing All Progressives’ Congress (APC). He most recently served in the Office of the President’s Special Adviser on Innovation from 2019 to 2023.

President Tinubu urges the above-mentioned nominees to ensure that they consistently reflect the dynamism, innovative zeal, and unyielding productivity that are synonymous with the young people of Nigeria as they discharge their duties’ he said.

If eventually ‘confirmed’ by the senate, Dr Jamila Bio will go down in history as the first woman to serve as member of the Federal Executive Council in Baruten/Kaiama federal constituency, the first daughter of a former minister to serve as minister in Kwara state, and the first medical doctor to serve as minister in Kwara state.

Dr Jemila Bio is an indigene of Gurei, Baruten local government.

She would also become the second Kwaran to serve as Youth Minister and the second indigene of Kwara state to  emerge as member of the Federal Executive Council  after her father had earlier served as minister . Dr Jemila Bio will also become the second female federal cabinet member in the Kwara North senatorial district.

Her father, Alhaji Isa Bio Ibrahim, a former commissioner for Health and member of House of Representatives and a one-time Speaker of Kwara state House of Assembly, served as Minister of Transportation under later Alhaji Umaru Yaradua and Minister for the National Sports Commission during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Hajia Amina Ndalolo, a Nupe woman, served as Minister of State for Health, during Chief Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi was assigned to the Ministry  of Youth Development in July 2011 by former president Goodluck Jonathan while Alhaji Yahaya Ori-okoh , the Madawaki of Ilorin served as Minister of Health during the First Republic and his son,  Aremu Babs Yahaya was appointed as Minister of State  for Transportation and Aviation by late General Sani Abacha years later-Team@orientactualmags.com
