
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms at the State House , Abuja.
The president’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Mr Dele Alake, had in a statement on July 7 announced the setting up of the committee by Tinubu and he had noted that the committee would be headed by Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele.
The committee comprises experts from both the private and public sectors and will be responsible for various aspects of tax law reforms, fiscal policy design and coordination, harmonization of taxes, and revenue administration.
The setting up of the committee, the government added, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing challenges and bringing about transformative reforms in fiscal policy and taxation.
The committee’s primary objective is to enhance revenue collection efficiency, ensure transparent reporting, and promote the effective utilization of tax and other revenues to boost citizens’ tax morale, foster a healthy tax culture, and drive voluntary compliance.
A 400-level student at the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan, Miss Orire Agbaje will also serve on the Presidential Committee . Agbaje is the President of the Nigerian Universities Tax Club-Team@orientactualmags.com
