Quitting PDP Not ‘Under Consideration’, Gov Adeleke Tells Party Stakeholders During Meeting In Osogbo

Leaders, elders and top federal and state officials of Osun State PDP on Wednesday night held a strategic closed- door meeting in Osogbo with Governor Ademola Adeleke declaring unequivocally that he is not planning to leave PDP, either now or in the future.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Spokesperson , Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted that the meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House was attended by all important leaders of the party with a former governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola attending the meeting virtually while Professor Wale Oladipo, the Chairman of Imole Movement, declared PDP as a home for all genuine lovers of Osun State people.
A life member of the PDP Board of Trustees , Dr Oluwole Alabi, who was the governorship candidate of the party in the 1999 guber election and a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yusuf described PDP as an agent of development and human empowerment.
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Akanni Olohunwa, who spoke on behalf of the PDP reps members, applauded the extensive positive transformation Osun is witnessing and affirmed that PDP is sure of victory in any future electoral contest.
At the meeting coordinated by the State PDP Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi and attended by Speaker Adewale Egbedun and other members of the State house of assembly, Governor Adeleke described rumours about his imminent defection as ‘fake news’ emanating from those intimidated by ‘our extraordinary performance in state leadership’.
‘My people, party elders and chiefs, I declare before you today that I am not defecting to APC or any other political party. I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news’ the governor declared.
Attendees of the ‘stakeholder forum’ later issued a communique that was signed by Hon Sunday Bisi.
‘After hours of addresses and brainstorming sessions, the meeting resolved as follows :
To pass a vote of confidence in the governor and endorse him while praising him for his equitable, foresightful and efficient leadership;
To re-endorse the governor for second term as the sole candidate of the party for the 2026 guber election;
To appreciate extensive delivery of dividends of democracy and good governance across all sectors of Osun society;
To welcome and applaud the declaration by the state governor that he has no plans either now or in the future to defect to the All Progressive Congress(APC) or any other political party;
To welcome and applaud declaration by other top leaders of the party that they are not quitting the PDP for APC or any other party;
To hail the party executive and leaders as well as elected and appointed officials from Oriade/Obokun federal constituency for remaining steadfast with the PDP and rejecting recent defections by an ungrateful lone ranger;
To commend the strategies of the state leadership in tackling and managing the local governments leadership crisis, hailing the approach as akin to winning a war without firing a shot;
To endorse the due process approach to the local governments crisis and urge further patience from all the stakeholders;
To commend leadership of the party in the state for managing and handling affairs of the party with calm.and wisdom, declaring that the State PDP is strongly rooted and well-positioned to win future contests;
