Ramadan: Ilorin-Based Cleric Urges Wealthy Muslims To Support Needy Families
Well-to-do Muslims in the country have been urged to support needy families during the ongoing Ramadan cognizant that the Holy month of Ramadan was designed to serve as a platform to carry out acts of self-denial and help those who are less fortunate.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yusuf Pakata Olopoewa said this on Friday at the residence of Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in Adewole estate , Ilorin , while giving a short sermon and presiding over the prayer session held during the iftar dinner hosted by the legal luminary.
Muslims are ordered to fast from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan and Iftar is the evening meal they take after the sun has gone down.
He urged wealthy Muslims to emulate the senior advocate by reaching out and touching lives of the poor saying ‘there is a need to regularly support the less privileged from our acquired riches like Mallam Yusuf Ali has continued to do and ensure that we increase charitable donations’ .
Submitting that Mallam Yusuf Ali gives charity secretly in most cases, which is according to him commendable, the Islamic cleric also urged other wealthy individuals to increase their acts of charity noting that greater efforts are needed to ease conditions and help the needy families.
He also asked God to give the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN, the needed divine support and wisdom in all matters and make him have a successful tenure.
