Rapists Banned From Seeking Political Office, ‘Government Job’ In Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri  of Adamawa state has signed into law a bill that has stopped rapists from taking up government jobs or seeking to occupy any political office in the state.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that chairperson of the Adamawa state Chapter of the Federation of International Female Lawyers, Barrister Hapsat Abdullahi disclosed this while appearing on Nass FM’s ‘Duniyan Mata’ programme .

 Nass FM  is a local radio station in the state.

 ‘A reference book with all records of rape offenders will be referred to whenever someone applies for a job or wants to participate in politics by criminal justice penal code of the state’ she said.

She added that the new law  that was signed recently also recommended  death penalty for any rapist who has been found guilty and convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

‘Life imprisonment will be given to perpetrators of a gang rape and a one-man rape will get a minimum of 20 years jail term’ she added.

Hafsat, who commended  Governor Fintiri for taking the bold step to end the menace of gender-based violence in the state, also  urged him to continue with what she called  his human -friendly policies.
