Reps Members, Senators ‘Under Fire’ As Video Of Rep Anamero Dekiri Getting Ready To Distribute Bags Of Rice Goes Viral

Rep Anamero Sunday Dekiri , who represents Etsako West/ Etsako East/ Etsako Central federal constituency, Edo state , in the House of Representatives, has been in the spotlight since an important video went viral.

In the video in question, Rep Anamero Sunday Dekiri, an APC federal lawmaker, disclosed that he has taken delivery of the bags of rice made available by the Federal Government  for distribution to his constituents ahead of Christmas and the New Year celebrations.

The reps member posted a video of himself getting ready to hand out the bags of rice to his constituents and this has made his colleagues and the senators come ‘under fire’.

Dekiri , who has joined the 2024 Edo  state gubernatorial race, may have though done this to show transparency and ensure that he continues to be in the good books of his constituents,  what he has done has however made constituents focus attention on colleague reps members and the senators.

Questions are being asked and it has become a topical issue among social media users in the country especially those in Kwara and Osun states.

The Federal Government had taken steps to ease things for the citizens following the removal of petrol subsidy and its concomitant economic hardships.

Apart from the concessionary travel scheme introduced by the Federal Government ahead of the yuletide, arrangements were also made to make  1,000 bags of rice  (50kg) and 2,000 bags of rice  (50kg)  available to each of the reps members and the senators respectively for onward distribution to their respective constituents.

 It was gathered that some among the lawmakers took a decision to rebag the food item in question and made it  10Kg to increase the number of beneficiaries and  had these emblazoned with their names and pictures.

In Kwara state, Senator Salihu Mustapha of Kwara Central distributed  bags of rice to constituents, and important  stakeholders including journalists  ahead of the yuletide while a prominent member of the APC in Baruten local government  also told Team@orientactualmags.com that Senator Sadiq Umar of Kwara North and Hon Omar Bio of Baruten/Kaiama federal constituency also distributed bags of rice to their respective constituents.

 There was however  insufficient evidence to support this.

 In Kwara’s neigbour, Osun state, social media users have made it  a hotly debated topic.

There were accusations on social media especially WhatsApp groups  that the lawmakers from Osun state sold the bags or rice allocated to them to their colleagues from the north while a PDP chieftain, Mr Abayomi Ojosegun  forwarded  a message sent  to him by one of the federal lawmakers explaining that they are yet to take delivery of the food item.

 Southern Legislators especially Osun, my state, allegedly sold their own portion of the rice (worth N1.5billion) to their northern colleagues, pocketed the money and claimed they are yet to receive anything from the President.

Only Honourable Wole Oluwole Oke II from Ìjèsà North Federal Constituency and perhaps, Senator Lere Oyewumi who I gathered also shared some food items, have been dignified enough to declare/show they received the items from FG but can FG love only Ijesa North Federal Constituency and Osun West Senatorial District alone by focusing on only them in Osun State? The people MUST be aware of this that you have enemies in the elected legislators you gave your mandates the other time. The APC FG is NOT the one causing pains to you O!

Each House of Reps member got N100m worth of rice/grains, while Senators got N200m worth.

Yes, there is rice palliative for each of the Federal constituencies in Nigeria which was part of the 2023 supplementary budget of the Federal Government. It is domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and awarded to supply contractors by the ministry about 2 weeks ago. We are still waiting for the contractor to supply the items to the designated locations.

 Once they are supplied, you can be very sure that they will be monitored by me to ensure even distribution across the four local governments.

‘The gist is that President Tinubu gave all legislators, House of Reps members and Senators, rice/grains worth N100m and N200m respectively to distribute to their constituents to reduce the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

 While legislators from the North distributed the items to their people, legislators from Osun and many southern states sold on the spots their own share of the rice to their northern colleagues, pocketed the money and continued to claim they are yet to receive their own portion.

Can you imagine: N1.5b worth of rice given to 12 Legislators from Osun. Each member of the 9 House of Reps received N100m worth of rice while each of the 3 Senators received N200m worth.

Here is a Legislator from Edo announcing his own portion of the rice’ a social media user , who is a member of Osun state APC, Instinct,  also submitted.

Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East  has not only distributed bags of rice to his constituents but also added cows, while it has been confirmed that the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate,  Senator Lere Oyewumi also distributed bags of rice to his constituents.

 Hon Taofeeq Ajilesiro of Ife federal constituency also reportedly distributed bags of rice to his constituents but there was  insufficient evidence to support this.

Pastor Sam Segun Progress ,who is Senator Francis Fadahunsi’s media aide, told Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday morning that though arrangements may have been made  to make bags of rice  available to federal lawmakers for onward distribution to constituents , his principal, was yet to receive the bags of rice as at last month  and had therefore used his money to buy the bags of rice and cows that were distributed to his constituents.

He added that he was aware that the lawmakers were asked to go for documentation process at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the bags of rice in question, but that Senator Fadahunsi bought all he has distributed with his money while adding that he has done this to ensure that possible bureaucratic bottlenecks did not hinder his constituents from enjoying the support from the federal government.
