Rerun Elections: APGA Wins 1 Assembly Seat In Bayelsa, NNPP Wins 2 In Kano As PDP Wins Reps, Assembly Seats In Sokoto
Opposition parties in the country won parliament seats at the state and federal levels in the rerun elections held on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
In Bayelsa state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate, Waikumo Amakoromo, as winner of the rerun of the house of Assembly election in Yenagoa Constituency 2 .
Amakoromo got 5,959 votes while the PDP candidate, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai had 5,263 votes.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that INEC Returning Officer , who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Prof Chris Onyema, announced the election results at the INEC collation centre, Okolobiri, on Saturday night.
Bayelsa is a PDP-controlled state.
In Sokoto state, the leading opposition party in the state, the PDP, has also won the rerun election held in Bodinga North state constituency .
The Returning Officer, Professor Farouk Tambuwal, announced Magaji Abubakar of the PDP as winner of the election having gotten 6,488 votes while the APC candidate, Yusuf Marafa Danchadi had 5,893 votes.
PDP candidate, Umar Yusuf has also been declared as winner of the rerun election held in Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency.
The INEC Returning Officer, Prof Abubakar Abdullahi-Bagudo, declared Umar Yusuf as winner of the election submitting that he had 27,042 votes while the APC candidate Abubakar Umar got 25,738 votes.
In Kano state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Alhassan Ishaq of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, winner of the rerun election held in Kura/Garun Mallam State Constituency .
The Returning Officer , Prof. Shehu Galadanchi, announced that Ishaq had 37,262 votes while the APC candidate, Musa Daurawar got 30,803 votes.
INEC has also declared Bello Butu-Butu of the NNPP winner of the rerun election held in the Rimin Gado/Tofa State constituency.
The Returning Officer , Prof. Ibrahim Tajo Suraj submitted that Bello Butu-Butu of the NNPP had 31,135 votes while the APC candidate got 25,577 votes.
In Oyo state, Hon Ibrahim Shittu , who had won the House of Assembly election held in Saki West State Constituency on March 18, 2023 , but later had his victory annulled by the Court of Appeal, has reclaimed his parliament seat.
He has won the rerun election that was held in Units 11, Ward six, Odo Osun, Kinikini and Unit 19, Ward 11, Ogbalanja of the Saki West state constituency..
Shittu eventually had 13,850 votes, while the PDP candidate, Julius Okedoyin got 13,670 votes.
Oyo is a PDP-controlled state.
In Niger state, the APC candidate , Jibril Baba, has been announced as winner of the rerun of House of Assembly election in Lavun state constituency.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC , through the Returning Officer, Prof Emmanuel Raymond, announced the election results on Sunday submitting that Baba got 21,393 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Joshua Gana had 20,802 votes-Team@orientactualmags.com
