Resignation: I’ve Left For Good, There’s No Going Back-Former Benue Speaker

Former Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Hyacinth Dajoh has submitted that he has left for good and there is no going back while urging peace and unity.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Hon Hyacinth Dajoh, who resigned from his position on Sunday, August 24, 2025, commented on his decision to call it quit in a Facebook post on Monday.

Hon Hyacinth Dajoh served as Speaker of the state House of Assembly from June 5, 2023, to August 24, 2025, while Hon Alfred Emberga had since emerged as new head of the state parliament.

The former Speaker thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia, members of the House of Assembly, his constituents and his wife for their support during his tenure.

‘It’s no longer news that I turned in a resignation letter as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, yesterday being the 24th day of August, 2025. And I have moved on.

I want to specially appreciate my constituents of Gboko West (Gbemacha) that first voted me as a member of the 10th Benue Assembly. I am eternally grateful to them.

I appreciate my dear colleagues who voted me in as the first Speaker of the 10th Assembly and gave me the needed support to the very last day in office.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his support from the beginning of my being the speaker to my exit.

May I specially appreciate my wife, Kundumiyol Dajoh, who gave me the desired love and support while in office.

She is the best example of a supportive wife’ he wrote.

‘Let there be peace and let’s move on. The journey is still ahead’ the former Speaker added.

In the meanwhile, Benue State House of Assembly has clarified that Dajoh was not forced to resign by Governor Hyacinth Alia as alleged in some quarters.

Spokesman for the state house of assembly, Hon Elias Audu said this on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme.

‘If the governor had an interest, whatever it is, it is not within the knowledge of the Assembly. The Speaker was doing his job, and after some time, maybe because of certain decisions, he thanked the people for their support and said it was time to go.

I’m convinced that the Speaker resigned based on personal principle. We are in a political dispensation, but if there are political undertones, there is no fighting in the Benue Assembly. You can’t coerce members.

The immediate past Speaker voluntarily resigned. He came, he saw, he conquered, and he did his best for the state. When he said it was time to quit, members unanimously voted Honourable Berger Emberga as the new Speaker in a peaceful atmosphere’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
