Retired Customs Officer Who Was Abducted In Osun Last Month Regains Freedom

A retired customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, who was abducted in Ora, Ifedayo local government, Osun State on December 15, 2025, has regained his freedom.

He was reportedly released on Monday by those who had held him captive since last month after the payment of ransom.

He was said to have been released in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun local government, Kwara State.

‘He was released by his abductors late on Monday. We got him in the forest around Oro-Ago. We paid for his release. We paid millions of naira to get him out’ a source reportedly submitted.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Owolabi’s release was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Dr Yemi Faounbi, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Philippines, who is also the Asiwaju of Ora-Igbomina.

‘We thank the government for their support and assistance during the period that Owolabi was in captivity. We believe that the government will continue to strengthen security and expand presence, particularly in boundary communities in the state.

We also commend the Police, the Military, and other security and intelligence agencies for their efforts and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property across the country. Ora-Igbomina residents further acknowledged the role of both the mass and social media for bringing the incident to national attention despite the community’s remote location’ he said.
