Return Immediately Or Get Ready For Negative Consequences, Akwa Ibom Govt Tells 2 Govt-Sponsored Doctors Who Absconded From Duty

Two government-sponsored medical doctors; Uduakabasi Ita, a Consultant Radiologist and Mfonobong Bassey, a Consultant Haematologist, who have reportedly absconded from duty in Akwa Ibom State, have been told to return to the ‘Land of Promise’ immediately or get ready for the potential negative consequences.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state Commissioner for Health, Ekem John, who gave the warning during the press conference he presided over in Uyo on Tuesday, noted that Ita and Bassey are staff of the state Ministry of Health.

The two medical doctors in question, he added, absconded from duty and went in search of greener pastures without serving the state for the required number of years that will cover their ‘education cost’.

‘The state government has repeatedly said that any medical personnel it trains is bound to first serve the state to cover the education cost before being allowed to go in search of greener pastures.

The Ministry of Health has declared them wanted. We will stop their salaries; track them until we find them. Any country they go to, we will go to the Medical and Dental Council of that country and we will stop them.

It is in their best interest to immediately report to the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health as we will not be held liable once the Medical and Dental Council begins to sit.

Now that they have not been invited and there is no issue, we ask that their families reach out to them to immediately report to the Ministry of Health’ he said.

The commissioner further noted that henceforth it is mandatory for government-sponsored doctors to serve the state for the required number of years after graduation.

Ita and Bassey should according to him return to the state immediately or refund all the resources spent on them by the state government.

He commended Governor Umo Eno for declaring a state of emergency in the health sector while adding that Akwa Ibom State will witness the best health system under the ARISE Agenda of the current administration in the state-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
