The Rotary Club of Ilorin has continued its humanitarian service projects by organizing a medical mission during which residents of Kwara state capital enjoyed free surgeries and had other health needs attended to by medical practitioners.
The rotary club also promoted menstrual hygiene by enhancing access to sanitary pads which was distributed to women in Ilorin for free.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the medical mission was jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Ilorin, Rotary Club of Osogbo GRA and the Rotary Club of EClubone, USA.
‘This Rotary Global Health Mission is in 3 phases.
The first phase was held in Osogbo, Osun state, the second phase is being held here in Ilorin, Kwara state while we shall round off in Babanloma, Ifelodun Local Government, Kwara state.
This edition started here at the Sobi Specialist Hospital on Monday, April 15, 2024 , with the screening of patients for different ailments and the turnout we have received has been so encouraging.
As we round off with the main outreach today, I would like to note that over 30 patients are due for ophthalmology surgery today, sequel to screening and investigations by members of the medical team, there will be general Surgeries for over 20 beneficiaries while there will also be distribution of Sanitary Pads to women of reproductive age.
There will also be distribution of drugs to some other beneficiaries in line with the recommendations of the medical team’ Rtn Hassan Shuaib Olayinka Okoh PHF, who is the 20th president of the Rotary Club of Ilorin, submitted.
Okoh also talked about the vision and mission statement of the Rotary International while also listing the areas of focus.
‘Rotary International is a service Club and one of the most largest service organizations in the world which provides service to others, promotes peace and integrity, fights poverty, bridges culture and connects continents among others.
The Rotary International has seven areas of focus and they are:
1. Peace building and conflict prevention
2. Disease prevention and treatment
3. Water, sanitation, and hygiene
4. Maternal and child health
5. Basic education and literacy
6. Community economic development
7. Environment’ he submitted.
The Rotary Club of Ilorin president also commended the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration for prioritizing public health in the state.
‘May I on this note appreciate the efforts of Kwara state Government so far under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq’s leadership, on behalf of my entire team I want to say a big thank you to the governor for prioritizing the health and welfare of the populace. The support we have received from this administration is great and we hope we will continue to enjoy such a privilege even after this intervention
