Runway Incident: Flight Operations Suspended At Abuja Airport
Flight operations have been suspended at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned this was sequel to the incident recorded at the airport on Sunday.
A Max Air aircraft B737 with registration number 5N-MBD which flew from Yola, Adamawa state to Abuja with 144 passengers and six crew on-board had an emergency landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport ,Abuja on Sunday.
Though this development freaked everyone on board out, the plane however landed safely.
The pilot, we learned , had been aware of issues with the plane tires and had sent a signal to the Abuja airport where emergency officials were swiftly mobilized to the runway before the plane touched down to ensure it lands safely.
Though the tire blow -out resulted in flames as the aircraft touches down, the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire-fighting Service (ARFFS) officials were already on the ground to put out the fire and ensure that the passengers were disembarked safely.
As at last night, the aircraft was still at the runway, thereby making it impossible for other aircraft to use the runway.
Both the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) confirmed that the airport has been temporarily closed while noting that there will be no flight operations until the aircraft is taken away from the runway.
As at 7:40pm on Sunday, rescue teams were still battling to evacuate the aircraft from the runway- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08059100286, 09094171980. Thank you
