Senate, Reps Principal Officers: No Decision Yet On ‘Zoning Arrangement’ –Senator Lola Ashiru
While a certain ‘zoning arrangement’ and names of potential principal officers of the senate and the House of Representatives had been bandied about since last week, a member of the Nigerian Senate, Architect Lola Ashiru, has clarified and asserted that no decision had been taken yet on which geo-political zone would get what.
Taking questions from reporters including Team@orientactualmags.com after casting his ballot in Offa on Saturday, Senator Ashiru , a member of the ruling APC, who would be retaining his parliament seat in the tenth senate, said leaders of the party will take a decision on the issue at the appropriate time.
‘No, there was nothing like that actually the last meeting we had as a caucus which was attended by all the party’s apparatus ,we were cautioned against struggling among ourselves and urged to wait for the party’s decision, the party will take a decision on what would be the zoning arrangement but I want to clarify that nothing of such has been done yet, we are awaiting the decision of the party leaders because we are loyal party members we want our party to succeed we want a seamless operation in the next dispensation’ he said.
Commenting on what the situation was during the presidential and national assembly elections and what it was yesterday , the senator said the enthusiasm was on the top during the presidential and national assembly elections being the first lap of the general election and ‘it was a controversial one because there was thickness of competition between the various parties but today there is dominance of the ruling party and the competition was not as it was during the last elections’ adding that ‘what we expect today is dominance of one party and probably a lower turnout’ .
He has also predicted victory for his party.
‘Certainly our party will be victorious, it is going to be a win for APC at all the polling stations in Offa .
Many who live outside the state had come home to vote and they had planned their itineraries but due to the earlier postponement they are not as energetic and enthusiastic as they were before so that is why we may have a reduced quantity but proportion- wise we are going to have a bigger percentage’ he submitted .
The senator has also promised to maintain the tempo of quality representation in the next legislative session.
‘We have a lot of residuality in terms of the ongoing infrastructure projects, I will take them to completion as a member of the tenth senate, developing countries are so deficient when it comes to infrastructure ;road, water almost in all aspects of life, we have spent the last four years rebuilding what were the failures of sixteen years, we are rebuilding and we are going to double our efforts in respect of this’ he added- Team@orientactualmags.com
