Senator Fadahunsi Sponsors 400 Constituents For 2-Day Catfish Farming Training In Osun, Provides N20m As Startup Capital

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi has gotten some young people and women in Osun East senatorial district empowered by sponsoring them for catfish farming training. They have also received training on shrimp farming.

The participants were during the 2-day programme trained on how to raise catfish, post- harvest management and marketing while the  senator has also provided cash grants to ensure that they get off to a good start.

The training programme was organized in conjunction with the  Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR).

A statement made available to by the senator’s media aide, Mr. Sam Segun-Progress  noted that the 400 participants, who were sponsored for the two-day  training programme were chosen from the 10 local governments in Osun East senatorial district.

‘For the sake of convenience, the participants, who  were divided into two  groups, attended the Intensive 2-day training programme  at centres in Ilesa and Ile-Ife.

The training programme commenced with intensive lectures on how to be financially independent through the rearing of  catfish and shrimp.

 The participants were also exposed to practicals before the sessions were concluded and cash grants of N50,000 was given  to each of them to ease things for them as they start their farming business’ the statement said.

In their separate speeches at Ilesa and Ile Ife centers , Osun state Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Hon Bayo Ogungbangbe and the Chairman of Ife Central local government, Barrister Rotimi Adeyenuwo advised the beneficiaries of Senator Fadahunsi’s gesture of goodwill to use the money made available to them for the intended purpose.

Adeyenuwo had presented the cash grants to participants at the Ile Ife Centre on behalf of the senator.

Giving his speech, Senator  Francis Fadahunsi said the only way out of the current economic quagmire that the country has found itself is to have multiple streams of income and become financially independent.

 He told the beneficiaries that their respective farms would be visited by his representatives to ‘assess situation’ adding that anyone found to have done well in respect of managing his or her farm would further be encouraged with more supports.

The participants applauded Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi for his interest in uplifting the downtrodden through his regular interventions and prayed that God will continue to strengthen him to do more with regard to improving the lives of the people of Osun East senatorial district
