Senator Godiya Akwashiki’s Body Arrives In Abuja…Illness Left Him Bedridden For 2 Years-Senator Al-makura
The body of Senator Godiya Akwashiki arrived in Abuja, the federal capital territory, on Monday.
The aircraft that brought the body of the late federal lawmaker arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Monday with Prince Adewole Adebayo, Senator Tanko Al-Makura and other political figures waiting to receive the remains of the senator.
The body was immediately taken to the National Hospital, Abuja.

‘We have lost one of our soldiers. We feel devastated, especially for the family. You can see Mrs Akwashiki here, completely heartbroken.
We know how his senatorial district and the whole state feel. Many people who knew Godiya Akwashiki knew that he was a gentleman of the highest calibre.
The only consolation we can draw is that he died and left a good name behind, which is far better than many who are alive. He was a great man’ Prince Adewole Adebayo, who was the SDP presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, submitted
Team@oriientactualmags.com learned that former governor of Nasarawa State, who is currently a member of the senate, also disclosed that on a sad note, illness had left the late Senator bedridden for two years which hindered him from carrying out his legislative duties.
‘He has been bedridden for over two years, which did not allow him to participate in the deliberations in the Senate. However, our consolation is that Senator Godiya has been a very faithful politician and committed partner. He is loyal to his leaders and followers.
He has helped in no small measure in ensuring the success of my administration when I was the chief executive of the state.
I have lost a political son; I have lost a political friend and associate whose replacement would not be easy to have.
I wish leaders would have committed and faithful subordinates like Godiya.
I am sure not only those of us who are close to him will miss him, but every member of his constituency, whether they are All Progressives Congress or Social Democratic Party or whatever party, I cannot be wrong to say they have missed him. My only consolation is that he lived a good life, he lived a committed life, he lived a loyal life, and he is a team player. I pray that almighty God grants his soul peace’ he said.
Senator Akwashiki, who until his death in India last week represented Nasarawa North in the senate, died at 52.
He became a member of the senate in 2019 and got the Nasarawa North SDP senate nomination to retain his parliament seat in 2023.
Godiya had before then served as a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly and was at different times the Majority Leader and the Deputy Speaker–Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
