Senator Lere Oyewumi Sympathizes With Ikire Flood Victims, Says Needful ‘ll Be Done
Deputy Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Akogun Olalere Oyewumi , has sympathized with victims of the flooding recorded in some parts of Ikire , Irewole Local Government, Osun state on Saturday.
In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com, Senator Oyewumi expressed his sympathies to the flood victims while describing the incident as unfortunate.
Senator Lere Oyewumi, an illustrious citizen of Osun state, who represents Osun West in the senate, is an indigene of Ikire.
He has called on the Federal Government and relevant agencies especially the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to support the efforts of Osun state Government under Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke’s ‘good leadership’ to mitigate the effects of the flooding while urging the people of Ikire to desist from dumping debris on waterways to prevent such an incident from occurring in the future.

‘We woke up this morning to the news of heavy flooding in Naira and Kobo, Gbongan-Ibadan Road areas of Ikire where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. I sympathize and identify with the victims of this unfortunate incident in Ikire land. I want to assure you that, we shall not leave you alone at this trying period. As your representative in the Nigerian Senate, I will raise the incident in question as a Matter of Public Urgent Importance during the next plenary session of the Senate and it shall be thoroughly addressed while I assure you that the needful will be done.
I acknowledge the ongoing efforts of the Osun state Government under Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke’s leadership to expand the waterways to prevent such an incident from occurring in the future. Also, I enjoin the people to desist from dumping debris on the waterways.
I call on the Federal Government, and relevant agencies especially the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to support the immediate efforts of the State Government to mitigate the effects of the flooding’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com
