Senator Sadiq Umar To FG: Take Quick Action On Poor Roads, Ungoverned Forests To Tackle Insecurity In Borgu Land, Kwara North
Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, who represents Kwara North in the senate, has submitted that poor roads and ungoverned forests are key contributing factors to insecurity in Borgu land and the Kwara North senatorial district while emphasizing the need for the Federal Government to take remedial and corrective measures without delay.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Senator Sadiq Umar, who said this in a senate floor speech, also lamented that uncontrolled land territories in the senatorial district are made vulnerable to occupation and control by violent non-state actors.
He also said a good road infrastructure in the Kwara North senatorial district will help greatly in tackling insecurity while noting that this will ease accessibility for emergency response in critical situations
Submitting that he had talked about the security situation in his senatorial district via a motion on the killings of people in Woro and the killings in Patigi and Edu last week, the federal lawmaker noted that the two fundamental problems facing his constituents are the massive stretch of forest reserves originally designed to conserve animals, trees and plants which has however become a sanctuary for criminals of various shades.
‘If we don’t take care of the forests in question and get those people out of the place, it will be a recurring decimal. Borgu land in Kwara State and Borgu land in Niger State and the entire Kwara North is a massive land mass with horrible and poor road infrastructure which are federal roads and for swift response, a good road infrastructure is important’ he said
