Top politicians, Islamic clerics and other dignitaries attended the third edition of the annual thanksgiving prayer service organized by the Oloriegbe family for  Senator Yahaya Ibrahim Oloriegbe in Ilorin on Sunday. Oloriegbe, a former Majority Leader of the Kwara state House of Assembly, became  a member of the Nigerian Senate in 2019.

Oloriegbe, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, represents Kwara Central in the senate.

The senator had been away from the state since May this year which had made it impossible to hold the third annual thanksgiving prayer until Sunday.

The senator, an APC chieftain, had on Saturday asserted during the press conference he presided over in Ilorin that by virtue of his position and the network of friends he had built , he had become a principal stakeholder  in Kwara state and at the national level.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned the thanksgiving prayer had come in handy to prove himself as a statesman.

Political leaders in the state put aside political differences to attend the prayer session held at the Senator’s family house in the Oloje area of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The event was attended by Rep Ganiyu Olododo ,who is the Ilorin East/Ilorin South SDP House of Representatives candidate,  former Sports minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, who is the Kwara Central PDP Senate candidate, the Madawaki of Ilorin, who is the Kwara state YPP guber candidate, SDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Hakeem Lawal, former commissioners; Mallam Atolagbe Alege  and Alhaji Tajudeen Sulu Oloje, Alhaji Toyin Olokooba , and  the Kwara Central SDP senate candidate, Alhaji Ridwan Apaokagi..

Former SDP gubernatorial aspirant, Architect Kale Belgore also attended the event while the Kwara state NNPP gubernatorial candidate , Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, sent a representative.

The prayer session was presided over by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Basheer Soliu , who was assisted by the Imam Imale of Ilorin , Sheikh Imam Abdullahi Abdulhameed ,  Imam Gambari, Sheikh AbdulAzeez Suleiman  and other clerics.

The event also featured royal presence as it had   the Balogun Gambari, Balogun Fulani,  Maogaji Are and the Balogun Alanamu in attendance.

Giving a short sermon, an Islamic cleric, Imam Oloka Onikunkewu , emphasized the need for  everyone to be trustworthy and make it an important virtue.

He noted that people can volunteer to  get involved in activities that will bring about social or political change without expecting a reward for such a good action while adding that   those who fall into this category are   the activists. He said the  ‘amanah’ that would be relevant to the politicians would be things that are based on  mutual understanding and agreement.

He asserted that Senator Oloriegbe has performed exceedingly well and already set a standard for future occupants of the parliament seat.

The Islamic cleric  also submitted that the senator deserves commendation for staying loyal to his party and not considering the idea of defecting to other parties to pick up available nomination form like some among his colleagues in other states had done.

Considering his legacy of accomplishments, electors in the Kwara Central, the cleric noted , had not regretted voting for the senator  in February 2019 . He added that Oloriegbe had actually set the pace for future occupants of the parliament seat- Team@orientactualmags.com
