Shuaib Oyedokun Mourns ‘Speaker Of Truth’ Audu Ogbeh’s Passing, Wants Him Immortalized

Shuaib Oyedokun Mourns ‘Speaker Of Truth’ Audu Ogbeh’s Passing, Wants Him Immortalized

Former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), who is now an APC bigwig, Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun has urged the Federal Government to immortalize former Minister for Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh in the best way possible.

Chief Oyedokun, who noted that he has confidence in the sense of judgment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praised Ogbeh’s versatility and pragmatism asserting that the former minister during his lifetime impacted well on party administration and on Nigerians through his sound food policy programmes for the country.

The veteran politician recalled that Chief Ogbeh’s postulations for food security in the country impressed former president Olusegun Obasanjo who tapped from his special advice adding that it was for this reason that former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the deceased politician as Agriculture Minister.

‘With Chief Audu Ogbeh’s sense of humour, there was no dull moment, and he was always ready to delegate authority and responsibility amid steady encouragement of hardworking party members’ Chief Oyedokun submitted.

While assessing the late Chief Ogbeh’s tenure as PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Oyedokun, a nonagenarian, in a statement he issued in Abuja on Thursday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com, called the former Agriculture minister ‘speaker of truth’ while noting that the party was ‘stable’ and ‘effective’ while he was in charge .

He added that it was under him that a sitting governor, Chinwoke Mbadiniju was told by the National Working Committee not to seek re-election because stakeholders in Anambra State had informed the party that he was no longer a popular candidate and the former governor followed the directive without hesitation.

The veteran politician also added that under Chief Ogbeh as National Chairman, the PDP regularly carried out evaluation of performance and had governors invited to the national secretariat for debriefing in order to ensure policy coordination.

Chief Oyedokun offered his condolences to the Ogbeh family and President Bola Tinubu while noting that the nation has lost a giant who had successfully demonstrated his skills in practical agriculture .

The deceased politician’s welfarist ideology, he noted, was however abruptly terminated through the erosion of party supremacy built on a strong vision that would have kept PDP in power for six unbroken decades.

‘Under his tenure as National Chairman, the PDP never had it so good ,amid his vision of stability and party consolidation in which both the young people and women were empowered through sustainable developmental programmes while the  PDP was carried beyond the shore of the country by diasporan initiatives’ Chief Oyedokun said.

He however submitted that a hidden agenda for tenure elongation in high quarters laid the foundation for its fall.

Chief Shuaib Oyedokun was one of the founding  fathers and conveners of PDP in the Southwest.

The highly experienced politician, who was the Chairman of  2003 Presidential Nomination Committee that prepared the ground for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s re-election , contented that the former president’s  body language for tenure elongation disrupted watertight party structure and the good works Chief Audu Ogbeh had put in place noting that this was what landed PDP in the situation that it currently finds itself.

‘Although former President Obasanjo during Ogbeh’s tenure encouraged party supremacy and led both the Federal and State executives to interact with the National Working Committee , the former minister’s strict adherence to party ideology and his courage in speaking the truth to authority however resulted  in the loss of his position’ he submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
