Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway Project: Kebbi Govt Enhances Project Site Security With Donation Of 10 Hilux Vehicles
As the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project gets underway, Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has donated ten brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to enhance project site security .
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the vehicles were formally presented to the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, during a short ceremony at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Governor Idris, in his remarks, said the kind gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of his administration to ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted execution of the legacy infrastructure project.

He noted that Kebbi State accounts for a significant portion of the highway, covering about 258 kilometres of the dual-lane corridor, where construction activities are progressing steadily.
The governor explained that the decision to provide security vehicles stems from the need to safeguard the expansive construction zone while emphasizing that ‘no meaningful development can thrive without security’.
He also talked about the proactive measures taken by the state government to protect workers, equipment, and communities along the project route.
Highlighting the economic importance of the project, Governor Idris said the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project, when completed, will significantly boost trade, ease transportation, and expand farming and commercial activities in Kebbi.
He expressed confidence that the people of the state would be among the first set of beneficiaries of the economic opportunities the project will create while reaffirming his administration’s strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda which, he noted, is already delivering transformative projects across the state.
Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, commended Governor Idris for what he described as the fulfillment of a promise and a demonstration of genuine partnership with the Federal Government.
He praised the governor’s commitment to progress, noting that the donation would greatly enhance security along the project corridor.
Barrister Goronyo also disclosed that construction work on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project has advanced significantly, with about 64 kilometres already cleared, over 30 kilometres filled, and four kilometres of concrete double-lane pavement completed.
He added that the installation of solar streetlights has commenced, with five kilometres already completed — all within Kebbi State.
The Minister reaffirmed that the project is designed to open up economic corridors, ease travel, reduce insecurity, and connect farmlands, towns, and rural communities. He listed upcoming installations along the highway, including solar streetlights, CCTV cameras, police stations, boreholes at every five kilometres intervals, schools, and medical centres, all aimed at stimulating socio-economic development.
He further explained that the highway, spanning 168 kilometres across several states from Sokoto to Lagos, will connect with the ongoing coastal highway from Badagry to Calabar and other national road networks.
According to him, these interconnected routes will ultimately open up the entire country for commerce, mobility, and national integration.
Barrister Goronyo concluded by expressing the Federal Government’s gratitude to the governor on behalf of the Minister of Works, Engineer Dave Umahi while commending him for his continued support for national infrastructure projects.
He assured that the vehicles would be properly utilized for the intended purpose, while praying for the governor’s continued success in delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
